Well considering the season I was wondering how many people remember what coal used to mean for so many people in Ole'din days. Stepping back in time where things were less commercial we find that life was harsher all around, and less accommodating when it came to cold winters. Around winter coal was quite a precious commodity (still is to many on earth) as it literally meant potential death from freezing to so many poor families. Somewhere along the season I believe when Christmas was adapted there was a principle that was set in place.
